If anyone is still bothering to check this blog, you have noticed that I haven't written anything since the beginning of February. Sorry. My life has been revolving around teaching an early morning seminary class on the Old Testament--in Portuguese. Every morning five or six young teenagers would come to our apartment at 5:45 a.m. for an hour. I tried to teach them something about the Old Testament. I am so grateful that Bob was right there, helping me, especially when I was trying to explain circumcision. I would study several hours a day just to teach a one hour class the next day. We had a whiteboard easel and flip charts so I could write the main points for the class in Portuguese the night before. And Eliza sent me the student manual and the teacher's manual in English which saved me. They match perfectly, so I could read in English what I wanted to say, and write it in Portuguese.
We had a lot of fun learning things like how big the ark was--300 cubits long, up to 500 feet long, depending on how long your cubit is! We went out in the street at 6 a.m. and took measurements! We played games to help us memorize certain scriptures. My last day to teach was last Friday, and I am surprised at how sad I am to be finished.
We are being transferred on May 1 and moving 200 km. away to the ocean resort city of Torres, a city that is crowded in the summer, and practically deserted in the winter--the upcoming months. Even though I loved my seminary students very much, and even though I really learned a lot while teaching seminary, I was happy to learn that they already have a seminary teacher in Torres. And it has been very nice to sleep past 5 a.m.

I was thinking of you yesterday. I noticed you were online. Glad to hear that you get to sleep in again.
Hi mom,
I still check your blog. I am sure you were an awsome institute teacher! Love you.
Vonnie and Bob,
Like you, I have my head in the present and now, not elsewhere. Sorry for not responding, but I know you are involved in your calling. Enjoy it. I am sure it will pass too fast.
Bob, we had a great COH last Saturday night with the Roberts-Workman-Owen-Tirrell clan, as Calyb and Ryan Tirrell and Jake Owen received their Eagle Awards. I wish I had the ability to use a digital camera and send you the pics. They were most appreciative of all of their scout leaders past and present in helping them achieve the Eagle award. They even asked me to speak as the COR for the unit. Micah Wheatley represented the stake in awarding the stake momento and Greg was honored to make the Eagle presentations. It was a great time.
Of course, Ryan Wilkinson left for his mission last month and you likely know that Danny Morris received his mission call for San Antonio Texas -- Spanish speaking! He is now in the ward for the summer and is leaving in July. He is still Danny, always smiling shyly. Jeff Roberts does not leave until later this summer. Steve Suprise is gone too.
Tim Bright, Jr returned from his mission to Germany and had a young lady fly over from Germany and spend a few weeks here, announcing her intention to woo him and marry him! More on that later. Amazing pursuit for what you want, rather than the wishy washy elders and discouraged sisters we see here in Utah.
Elder Chris Bright just returned from Hong Kong and has his welcome home this Sunday. He looks good.
Spencer is leading the troop in a fine fashion, after his style of leadership. They have the scout aerorama this weekend over west of Utah lake. Scouting is healthy here in our ward. The Varsities are going to Entrada camp and the Scouts to Scofield Base Camp. Gotta go! My tomatoes have been planted and my peas are almost a foot high. I got lemon tomatoes this year too! :)
